Microsoft has acquired Lobe, a startup company that has developed a platform for users to build and ship custom deep-learning models. Lobe will offer platform support for Microsoft offerings while operating as a stand-alone service.

The Linux Foundation has announced the Deep Learning Foundation, an organization that will focus on promoting open-source artificial intelligence and machine learning. The company also unveiled the Acumos AI Project, an open-source framework that allows developers to build and deploy AI applications.
Huawei revealed that it signed an agreement with Chinese search engine Baidu to open a mobile artificial intelligence ecosystem with tools such as Baidu’s PaddlePaddle deep-learning framework and Huawei’s neural network processing unit. The companies will team to create a consumer augmented reality software and bolster voice and image recognition for smart devices.
